About

Meet Jennifer

Jennifer is a graduate of Canton High School, where she led the Bulldogs to a state championship in tennis. She went on to Boston University to pursue a degree in public policy and now works for a political start-up in Boston.

Jennifer returned to Canton after a few years living in Boston. While she loved Canton’s open space and sense of community, she missed the fun of Boston and the variety of businesses. She had also gotten to know people from all educational backgrounds and saw first-hand the difference a good education could make.

Jennifer is running for Select Board because she wants to build upon Canton’s great offerings and create even more opportunities for its residents, including a modernized library and more recreational activities.

Who and What Drives Jennifer

Students

Jennifer will make sure Canton’s great school system is serving all of its students by strengthening existing pre-K programs, creating better pathways for ESL students, fighting to reduce the costs of extra-curriculars, introducing breakfast to the schools, and adding additional bus times for kids who need to stay at school later. She will also focus on adding paid internship opportunities.

Seniors

It doesn’t matter how old Jennifer gets - she still calls her mom every day for everything from questions about cooking to FaceTime catch-ups about her cousins. Jennifer understands that every senior is somebody’s mother, father, friend, and independent individual who deserves a robust and vibrant life just like everyone else. Jennifer will work just as hard for all seniors in Canton as much as she would for her own parents.

Housing

Right now it is almost impossible to buy a house in Canton. We are losing young families who keep getting outbid when the house is already over asking price, retirees who cannot find condos to downsize to, and people who commute into Boston but can’t get anywhere near the train station. Jennifer will work to build up Canton’s downtown - literally, adding apartments and condos above existing buildings downtown.

Adult Recreation

As a competitive athlete, Jennifer loves being on a team. After college she lived in Boston and took advantage of all their offerings. Once she moved to Canton, though, Jennifer noticed a lack of programming for adults, especially the young adults who had moved back home after college. Jennifer wants to create more activities and programming for adults, who can then have fun and be a part of the Canton community as well.

Business

An avid fan of Shark Tank, Jennifer wants to promote new initiatives to get more Canton residents into entrepreneurship and business. From kids starting lemonade stands to young adults creating businesses from their bedrooms, Jennifer wants everyone to have the opportunities to learn, grow, and create. There are many vacancies downtown and Jennifer will work to get them filled.

Modernizing the Library

Libraries have always been great places to study, but now we need them to be great places to work. Jennifer wants to modernize the Canton Public Library in the style of the Boston Public Library’s Copley branch and add a cafe and eating area and conference rooms for group projects. Jennifer wants kids and adults alike to be able to study, work, and meet, all under one safe and community-fueled roof.
